Long Form

This is where I keep all the chopped up bits and chapters of my attempts at novels or longer, interconnected serials.

Vigiles
300 years ago the sentient city, the Municipocracy of Claire-Who-Named-Itself, underwent flaming revolution and literally swallowed up the royal palace, the entire monarchy, and a few screaming aristocrats. In these days of rapid expansion it suffers from the many struggles of urban infrastructure–crime, corruption, housing, and, especially, fires.

So come the Municipal Vigiles: the very first firefighters, in the very first city in the world. Under the brilliant leadership of Journeyman Streelighter Admiro Marcus Bytbridge and their shared pledge: ‘KILL ALLOF FIRES NOW’, they will, hopefully, one day, actually put out a fire.

ROAD HAG
Plum D’Oborries, a professional witch of questionable competence and Crossroads Hustum, her sort of familiar, travel across an endless and ineffable road, desperately attempting to scrounge up a buck or two, avoiding dark spirits, church-corporations, monarchist cults, and horses that aren’t horses.

This was kind of for nanowrimo but not really. Consider this popcorn writing.

Shatanha!
The day-to-day events of the crew of the ARS Assistance Impressing, galactic relief crew and collection of bickering morons.

LUIS
Job, a recently fired cultist-hitman and medically soulless full-body cyborg, travels along the haunted trainlines of an abandoned Earth to catch the Halfways Company train to Mars, pursued by bizarre spirits and the name that never seems to leave him alone: Luis.

Written for 2018’s nanowrimo, with all the really really ugly bits edited down and smoothed out.

ROSETHORN APOPHENIST
An episodic Serpiverse story about people who find lost objects, about the people who want those objects found, and about Bunk Falls, Washington, a dying husk of a town that was once meant to be a city, on the edges of the Pacific Northwest Winefields, the greatest environmental disaster of the 23rd century.
